We had a lovely meal here after a day at Ragdale Hall. We didn't book and turned up at about 18:45 on Saturday. The service was fast and the food was lovely. The nachos were very nice. We ordered the small pie and battered halloumi. The portion sizes are big and the quality is very high. We sat outside where they have great views

We were staying in the village and booked for Sunday lunch after checking that doggies are welcome. There was a choice of chicken, beef, gammon or duck legs and small or large plates (or the full standard menu to choose from too). We had duck, chicken and beef - and zero food left on any of our plates. The staff were lovely and there is a good sized car park for customers. Some outside seating, lots of doggy bowls for water and a stunning location. Very happy to recommend - but definitely recommend you book in advance.- Group size

A great little find.
Made a reservation and turned up to a nice looking warm feeling kinda place.
Didn’t have starters as nothing took my fancy.
Maybe just as well since the pie main I had was enormous.
Really nice main and all the accompaniments were great.
What would have made that pie main better still is a side serving of gravy.
Staff were friendly and attentive and the landlord was good for a little char about everything and nothing.
I had the cheesecake dessert which was nice too.
Wife had an Eton mess and found it overly sour on account we think of the use of some frozen ingredients.
I’d eat there again.
A great place and worth a try.- Wait time

One of the best Sunday Roasts I've ever had. The roast potatoes where amazing. You can pick your plate size small or large depending on how hungry you are. There is also a good variety of meats to choose from, and the serving of veg to share are huge. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. What an amazing pub.

Proper pub. Proper food. Proper ale.
We found this by fluke, travelling back from Lincolnshire. Thanks to Google Maps we popped in. We were not disappointed.
Despite our visit being Aug 2020 (post lockdown) we were welcomed and served like the old days, but with a few safe measures in place.
The food was excellent, the service matched that, and the location was perfect.
This is a good old traditional pub with plenty of history that you can read about on the walls and very comfortable to be a part of.
It’s family friendly and thanks to the great play area outside, good for kids too.
Plenty of parking. Free WiFi. Good Beer Guide 2020.
Really pleased we stopped.Visited with a large family group on a Sunday in August. We had pre-booked the function room. Service was quick and polite, and the food was very good!

Went for Sunday lunch. Had 5 roasts and a curry. Despite having the curry, the food came out quickly. It was hot and very tasty. Good value for money, but the desserts were around £8 each, which was a bit over the top. It didn't stop us, though, and the quality was very good, too. Including drinks and desserts it was £198 for 6 adults. £33 each, without desserts nearer £25 each. Recommended, we will be going again. The young man serving us was very friendly and efficient.- Price per person

Nice selection of ales and casks, the Tiger was spot on.
Service was good, everyone works hard and yet remains very pleasant.

A properly run traditional country pub. Food is good, beer is good, the views from the garden are stunning. The bar is very nice, tiled floor, large tables and a few stools at the bar. There is a skittle alley and a ptanque court. Highly recommended.
Enjoyable evening, friendly staff, and warm welcome. Food excellent choices of large/ small meals. Limited vegan choices, but the vegan curry was delicious. Wonderful evening spent with family. Would highly recommend to others.

Just returned from an excellent lunch here. I had the Barnsley Chop, which is excellent value, although it arrived slightly more than pink, but which I don't mind. However, I do think diners should be asked how they would like it cooked, rather like a steak as many still don't like medium/rare lamb. Excellent service from a very friendly lady. All in all, I will be back!
